More great cleaning products and GREEN ones at that!

So once again I have found a wonderful GREEN cleaning product. I love using Clorox wipes around our house. They are just super convenient.

My friends at Mom Central were nice enough to send me sample of the new Green Works Wipes. These new wipes have the cleaning power of Clorox but they are 99% natural and biodegradable and come in a container made of recycled material.

With the land fills filling up or already full what a great way to make some more room.

Green Works also has an eco-friendly project going on.

Through its new "Green Heroes Grant Program," the brand team will award five grants of $10,000 each to eco-friendly community projects across the country. Between January 15 and February 28, 2009, individuals can nominate eco-friendly community projects for a Green Heroes grant by submitting a photo and short essay about the project for consideration online at www.greenworkscleaners.com/greenhero. Each winner - or "Green Hero" - will receive a $10,000 grant to help their eco-friendly community projects grow and flourish! Then, beginning on March 16 through April 10, 2009, the public will have the opportunity to vote online for their favorite eco-friendly community project. The final five Green Heroes will be announced on April 22 - just in time for Earth Day. For more information about the Green Heroes Grant Program, including official contest rules and entry guidelines, log on to www.greenworkscleaners.com/greenhero.

Cleaning my house!

I don't know what smells better then the scent of Lemon Pledge after you have just cleaned your house!

And have you seen the new Pledge commercials (the one with the lady in the box)? They crack me up! Having seasonal allergies, a dog and a cat I use Pledge all the time on my furniture.
Pledge removes up to 84% of allergens from dust mites to pet dander found in dust.

It also makes my semi-new dining room set shine! Which I need after I have to clean off the peanut butter, jelly, syrup, and macaroni and cheese! I use it on the table and ALL the chairs as well!

It dries quick, leaves no waxy residue and smells like lemons, ahhh.

Two lucky readers will win a bottle of Pledge Natural Beauty, a bottle of Pledge Dust and Allergen, AND a $25 gift certificate to Target.

To enter visit http://www.pledge.com/ and comment on your favorite Pledge product. Entries will be accepted through February 1, 2009 and I will pick the winner using Random.org. US readers are only eligible. Make sure you leave an email address in your comment or that you have one accessible on your blog so you can be contacted if you win! Go green and get clean at the same time

Being cold and flu season I recently read an article on how to keep yourself well when your child is sick. They said #1 keep your child out of the kitchen and #2 use hand sanitizer even after washing your hands.

I love hand sanitizer however it drys out my hands and sometimes hurts if I have a hang nail or papercut.
I found a great new product called CleanWell at my local Target.
Clean well kills 99% of harmful germs, including MRSA and E.Coli. It is also safe for children and 100% biodegradable. And the best part of their hand sanitizer NO ALCOHOL!
I got the Orange Vanilla hand soap and the Hand Sanitizer. They smell SO good and your hands smell that way for a while after using the product.
One of my lucky readers will win a coupon for one bottle of soap or sanitizer (up to a $5 bottle).

To enter visit http://www.cleanwelltoday.com/ and comment on your favorite scent of hand soap. Entries will be accepted through February 1, 2009 and I will pick the winner using Random.org. US readers are only eligible. Make sure you leave an email address in your comment or that you have one accessible on your blog so you can be contacted if you win! Tales of Tanya

I went to elementary school at Sherman Elementary in Tacoma. It was a typical six years at school.
In Kindergarten I had a male teacher whom did not really know what he was doing so it was an interesting year. I attended all six years with my cousin Jaime.
We were more like sisters as we were only born 8 days apart. We had our share of sibling: rivalry in school. During elementary school we were not even allowed to be in the same class together! I remember once we were in 4th or 5th grads and we both were in the nurses office at the same time. We weren't sick. We ended up getting sent back to class because we were kicking each other from the beds we were laying in! Since I attended Sherman the school has been torn down and rebuilt. So nothing is the same! Both Little Man and Little Princess will probably attend the new Sherman Elementary.
My favorite teacher in elementary school was Mrs. Rosamond. I remember farting during library class once. I was so embarrassed but the librarian told everyone to look up a book on bodily functions!
We had a play while I was in elementary school of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." I don't remember what part I played.
I also recall a talent show where me and some friends dances to the song, "Walk the Dinosaur" by Was (Was Not).
New Kids on the Block was the cool band while in 5th grade too!

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Okay this cake is SO super good and moist! Hmmm I think I need to make some NOW!!! Oh yeah probably not the "heathiest" breakfast but hmmm I'm pregnant!
SUBMITTED BY: d newman PHOTO BY: LAYLA207
12 servings

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 5/8 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar for dusting
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch Bundt pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the sour cream and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into the batter just until blended. Fold in blueberries.

Spoon half of the batter into the prepared pan. In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans. Sprinkle half of this mixture over the batter in the pan. Spoon remaining batter over the top, and then sprinkle the remaining pecan mixture over. Use a knife or thin spatula to swirl the sugar layer into the cake.

Bake for 55 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted into the crown of the cake comes out clean. Cool in the pan over a wire rack. Invert onto a serving plate, and tap firmly to remove from the pan. Dust with confectioners' sugar just before serving.

Truvia, What's your New Year resolution?

Losing weight? No I'm not saying you need to loose weight but it is one of the most common New Year resolutions!

If loosing weight or just eating healthier is on your list of things to do this year then I have a great new product for you! It's called Truvia.

Truvia is an all natural, NO calorie, sweetener that is NOT artificial, made from the stevia leaf.

Here is how it is made:

Water. Sunshine. Nutrients from the earth. That's what goes into the stevia plant. Then nature works her magic and creates a wonderfully sweet taste.

Next, they steep the leaves, much like making tea, that begins the process of capturing rebiana, the best tasting part of the stevia plant. Ultimately, this little leaf gives back a recipe for sweetness that's both delicious and zero-calorie guilt free.

Truvia natural sweetener is made with rebiana, the best tasting part of the stevia leaf.
What are the ingredients in Truvianatural sweetener?

Truvia natural sweetener is made from rebiana, the best tasting part of the stevia leaf, erythritol and natural flavors. Erythritol is a sugar alcohol, a carbohydrate found naturally in several fruits. Erythritol doesn't lead to tooth decay, is safe for people with diabetes and in reasonable amounts does not lead to gastrointestinal side effects (in other words, no gas or bloating). I have lots of problems with this since being pregnant!

What's the benefit of natural vs. artificial sweeteners?

It basically comes down to taste. Some people prefer the taste of natural sweeteners as opposed to artificial ones. Some prefer the origin too. Truvianatural sweetener is natural and versatile, which makes it something everyone can enjoy.

Truvia natural sweetener is made with rebiana, the best tasting part of the stevia leaf.

Tales of Tanya

In elementary school we used to go camping all the time with grandma. She had a whinebago and we traveled all over the area. Many places were within a couple hours driving distance. One of our favorite places to camp was "Turtle Town." I don't know if that was really the name of it but it had a GIANT turtle right in the front. It was about as high as a one story house. It could have been smaller too because I was so small at the time we went there. We loved to climb on it. We also camped a lot at Deep Lake Resort. As in the name it wa a very deep lake. It was next to Millersylvnia State Park. This was a great park. They had a play ground, peddal cars, paddle boats, and a mini golf course.

Food Friday

Scones!!! I love scones, especially from our Puyallup Fair! But that only comes around once a year!
My friend Kara uses this great recipe which is as close as you can get to buying the scone mix at the store (which I still think does not compare to the Fisher Fair Scones!)

WONDERFUL SCONES
3 C all-purpose flour
3 T sugar
1 T baking powder
1/4 t salt
1/2 C chilled unsalted butter, cut into 1/4" pieces
3 eggs, divided
1 C plus
1 T milk, divided

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Spray a large baking sheet with vegetable oil cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. With a pastry blender or two knives, cut butter into flour mixture untilparticles are the size of small peas. In a medium bowl, beat 2 eggslightly with 1 cup milk. Add to flour mixture; stir until just mixed. On a lightly floured surface, knead dough gently (don't overwork orscones will be tough). Divide dough in half. Pat each into a round dome. Flour a knife before cutting into wedges. Place wedges 1"apart on prepared baking sheet. In a small bowl, combine 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of milk. Brush onto scones. Bake 15 - 18 minutes or until golden brown. Remove fromoven and serve warm.

Yields 12 - 14 scones.

So I think this is one of the funnest blog tours I have been asked to participate in!

Have you heard of personalized fruit rolls ups? They are so super cute and what a great idea for a birthday?

I'm not a big candy giver when it comes to my son. Ask him and he will tell you he gets Pez, like once a month. Other than that no candy for the kids. So for birthdays, holidays, etc. he normally gets fruits snacks. When I was asked my MyBlogSpark to participate in this tour I could not pass up the opportunity.
I got online and ordered my personlized fruit rolls ups in just minutes! I was even able to upload a picture of Little Man to put on the fruit roll up. Yes a PICTURE of him on the fruit roll up.
Then I got them in the mail in just a couple weeks. It was so SUPER easy and they turned out GREAT!

Regular price on these are $30 for a case of 30 fruit roll ups plus shipping. So $1 each. Not bad for a great party favor! They have desings for occasions such as birthdays, Valentines Day and Graduation!
I am giving away one case (30 fruit roll ups) of personalized fruit rolls ups thank for my friends a MyBlogSpark to one of my readers.

Tales of Tanya

When I was in late elementary and early middle school my grandma had a small house on Anderson Island. We used to go over there on the weekends and sew and play around. It was a small house more of a cabin. There were two bedrooms. One had bunk bed sand the other had two double beds next to each other. One day I was chasing my grandma's cockapoo, Bruno, around the house. It was set up in a circle. If you had all the doors open you could literally run around the house in a circle. So I was chasing the dog, then the dog would chase me. Running completely around the house meant jumping from one double bed to the next then down to the ground. And down to the ground is exactly what I did. It was my ankle. They took me to the fire department which was completely volunteer. They did not think it was broken but wanted to send me on the next ferry back to the mainland for an x-ray. We made a lot of people mad waiting in the ferry line. It was a holiday weekend which meant you normally had to wait in the ferry line for a couple trips just to get on. The fire department made sure we were the first on the ferry. We went to the urgent care on the mainland and they determine by x-ray it was just a bad sprain and gave me crutches. One the way back on the ferry. I was caught by the same fireman who helped us out on the island, hoping down the ferry line on one foot. He was not happy with me!

No Ham Bone Split Pea Soup!

Another favorite soup of mine is Split Pea Soup. Which is really funny because I don't like peas! But regardless never make Split Pea Soup because I never have a ham bone (I don't like ham either!). So I wanted to make Split Pea Soup a couple weeks ago SO bad I almost went to the butcher and bought a ham bone but instead I searched my favorite recipe site http://www.allrecipes.com/ and found this AWESOME recipe submitted by Cathy H. called Split Pea Soup with Rosemary. It is the BEST Split Pea Soup I have ever had and uses bacon instead of a ham bone. WAY cleaner too! Try it out today!
